Image
Will Terry Will Terry - illustrator , owner of www.svslearn.com - online illustration classes for children's book illustrators. He also has an amazing you tube channel where I found many usefull informations regarding children book ilustration.  When Will was young, his life was not colourful as he had some trubles in school. He ha hates Maths, English and Science and he faound learning quite difficoult. Than bad school experience makes him feel stupid as everyone else did very well in school. His self esteem was very low, luckily he found art! His story reminds me myself as I hated maths and science and I tried hard to be as good as my friends and siblings. Fortunately many years later he realized that it was the system - not him. Public sc...

smart objective - the book illustrations

I will be creating illustrations to the story written by my friend. The story is for children , consequently my drawings will be full of colors, designed for the little ones. I will be using Procreate to draw my pictures and to add text. I will upload my finished drawings to the Flipsnack where I will create a digital flipbook. I think there will be 4-6 pages in A4 size. I will add the completed pictures to my website by the beginning of December.

my milanote

my milanote Today I learned something new. That is Milanote - the best place to keep all ideas in one place! I found this very useful as I can keep my notes there, my pictures, inspirations even links to the websites. No more screenshots, notes on paper in every bag and mess. From now, Milanote will be my best friend.

advert - final project

Image
This is my final project. I created a leaflet which could be spread around the campus attached to the product. In my short comic story I wanted to explain what is the alarm for and how it works as an instruction. When I saw the product for a very first time I was not sure what it is , that inspires me to design this laflet.  Young people are the main target, that is why I used eye catching bride colors and pop art style

process of creating the advert part 2

To create my leaflet I used Procreate, First I did a research about pop art comic styles in 1950s 1960. I  went trough many websites focused on colors and fonts that has been used. The colors were bright with many different size spots, which I tried to recreate on my picture. I decided to draw in Procreate as my project contains free hand drawing and Procreate is the best for that. I drew a blond hair girl and the "bad guy" in the hood on. I did this in purpose as the commercials back in 1960s were very sexist. The men were always introduced as very important person, who is allowed everything. Basically women place was at home, doing dishes, tidying away and looking after children. Men life, on the vintage adverts is much more interesting, they exploring World, new gadgets, alcohols and cigarettes. Unfortunately they had much more fun than woman. I am glad that is changed now. vintage advert  I drew a big rectangle to mark the edges of my leaflet, next a added some diffe...

logo creation process

logo template searching  To create my logo I used Canva - free logo maker. I am so excited to learn more and explore digital world. Canva is one of my newest discover, thanks to my Tutor -Jurrian.  Is very easy to use and results are incredible.  In Canva I typed words " security" and "loud" to find the best logo template for my product, witch is a pocket size, personal alarm. This product is small, and makes loud noise to alarm everyone around. I created an advert slogan  - " Be loud! stay safe" Those words can be use on any type of personal alarms created by my company. logo template  I choose the red and black template for my logo. I kept the colors unchanged as I needed strong and graphic design to be visible on the packaging.

process of creating the advert

The original product               Yesterday Zoe Van- De- Velde the Head of Art, Design& Media, came to our class and we were talking about safety. She brought the personal alarms for everyone; is a small, round shape object which can be kept in the pocket. Is very easy to use, in case of emergency we puling out the alarm pin to activate the loud noise.  I noticed that the alarm was packed up in very boring packaging with a tiny comic style drawing at the bottom. My initial idea was to create a leaflet for Personal Alarms or  something what can be use in the packaging.  Simple sketch I design a comic style leaflet, which is an instruction at the same time as I was not sure what is this and how to use it, when I saw the product for the first time. The Personal Alarm is aimed to a young people I thought about bride, eye catching colors in Pop Art, comic style layout . I did t...

sequential images - homework

story board First of all I created a quick story board to explain what are we going to do and what is in my mind. I knew that we will need a car and empty car park to take a photos. I wanted buildings on the background as they look same over the year and different seasons. We went to Aylesone Gardens and it was perfect decision. I took over 30 photos before I choose the good one. In my project I tried to keep the background unchanged and I make sure that the car will stay in the same position on the picture. Only the person changed position and clothes. I tried to tell a story about how time goes quickly when we are adults and sometimes we get the feeling that every day looks the same. The Adult on the photos goes to work every day . The passing time can be seen by the change in his clothes depending on the season.  The setting is in England where almost every season look  similar. For this reason I decided to take a pictures on the car park, without trees on the  ba...

my first digital art project

Image
Today we were creating Contact Sheet in Photoshop. Typically, a contact sheet was a positive print of the total negatives from a roll or film or a shot, end often each image the same size as the negative itself. The purpose of contact sheet is to be able to quickly scan a series of images to find the keepers or the ones chosen to be enlarged.  Before I used Photoshop to create contact sheet, I realized that unfortunately, I deleted all photos from my phone. It was quite difficult to ignore my stupidity and think how to restore my photos. Likely,I found them on my Cloud. Our first project in sequential photography was to go outside and find interesting subject and take a photos. My learning partner was Michael and I enjoyed working with him as we have had similar ideas. We decided to stay focus on a person rather then a subject. After a few minutes walking around Art Factory, we found the wooden euro pallet laying on the pavement. Our idea was to tidy up th...

sequential photography

Eliot Erwitt Amagansett, New York 1990 Amagansett, New York, 1990 - Holden Luntz Gallery Recently we were discussing sequential photography. Sequence photography is a technique were series of pictures were put together to shows the movement or tell the short story.  Elliott Erwitt and  his amazing photos and sense of humour inspired me the most.  This 93 years old American advertising and documentary photographer  is known for his black and white candid photos of ironic and absurd situations within everyday setting.   For the contrast I included a photos taken by Duane Michals , one of the greatest innovators of the las century; heavily influenced by photojournalism. His photo shooting series " Dead Comes to the Old Lady " are very sad, nostalgic and shows the passing time. Photos are black and white which makes them more interesting and we can focused on the main message which is dead. I like the fact ...

welcome

My name is Ewa. Welcome to my blog. I graduated from Art School in Poland, shortly after that I moved to England. It was 2006 and my life turned upside down, but I have never stopped drawing and being creative. Finally, now is the time to make my dream come true, get an education and learn from the best. Recently I am DMUIC student, my progression route is Graphic Design and Illustration. Choosing the prospective career path was easy for me as I have always been interested in art. I could not imagine my life without creativity. In my free time I am always drawing, painting or making something for my friends as an original handmade gift. It has always been the most natural and easies way to express myself. My ambitions are to pursue a career where I can utilize my skills and my passion in design and illustration. But most of all I would love to become a concept artist, illustrator or comic artist. Some of the artists that inspired me over the years include Vincent Van Gogh, Andy Wa...
