software for the major project

 For my major project I will use Procreate which is a graphics editor app for digital drawing and painting

I started using Procreate during lockdown. At the beginning I followed simple tutorials on You Tube , then i found amazing person called Bardot Brush. 
Lisa Bardot lives in Australia with her husband and three children, however every Friday she delivered a live tutorials were I was able draw with her and learn new techniques on Procreate. I really enjoyed that and the fact that we had a group on Facebook where we shared our drawings after every live. That was interesting experience because people commented their work and we supported each other. Lisa Bardot is an illustrator and she also makes digital brushes for Procreate.
These some of my first drawings on Procreate:
 
This picture of Frida Kahlo is a big influence of that, what was happening on the World.
 
I remember that, everyone felt scared and children were stuck at homes. I created this coloring page for my friend's children and then for everyone in my neighborhood to cheer them up little bit. I was so happy when I saw my picture, colored by children, on their home's windows. 

 
Rainbow became a symbol of the Lockdown. Again using Procreate I drew this poster for the project where, with school stuff we were creating short video for children in our school. I remember that, it took me only 15minutes. I dawnloaded the school logo from the website, I used the spray brush to create rainbow and finally I drew some tiny dots, stars and symbols.  
I was shocked, extremly happy and surprised when I saw my drawing on the school building. Luckyly Procreate let them print this in the large scale.


I simply fallen in love with Procreate and I will always repeat that " Whoever designed procreate ,deserves for a gold medal and I will always appreciate it." 
Later on I found out it was developed and published by Savage Interactive for iOS and iPadOS.

To my major project I will create illustrations for children and I will use Procreate . With this app I can start with simple sketches, then by adding layers I am able to build up my picture. 


 


 Choice of many diferent brushes let me create patterns, layers and structures on my picture. 

 

In this case I struggled with painting water. When I used brush called water and i started painting, my characters look like they were swimming on the snow. Luckily I created separate layer for that an I was able to change it easily. I decided to use water paint brush instead and I am happy with results.
Thanks to Procreate I enjoy painting and discovering new bushes. Moreover my room is always tidy as I do not need all those painting equipment to create picture. 

Procreate would be perfect for my major project. I am drawing beautiful illustrations , I am playing with colors and textures and what is the most important I am able add the text. That let me to arrange page layout from the very first step. Probably without the procreate I would not enjoy preparing the major project as I am enjoying now.

    Good that you have posted this with examples of your own work. I think a short paragraph at the end that reflects on how well the software will work for the major project would be useful.

    I think your post about software for your major project is well made I really like that you posted your own work but could be better if you will add some more research about software and techniques and tools.

Eco Academy Tote Bag mock up

 Finally I was bereave  enough to experiment with the Photoshop to create the tote bag for the school. I  started with the mock up picture which I found on the free mock up website, and I downloaded it on the laptop.  After transferring the picture to the Photoshop I used a clone tool to remove the design which was already there, however a few minutes after I have finished designing the bag I learned how to do it in completely different way. I knew I am doing something wrong as it took me to long .    I used the same free background logo which I created earlier in Procreate . I fit it to the tote bag size and I saved the picture in jpg, choosing "file" and " save as"  on the left top corner . I am happy with the results, the picture is sharp in a good quality.  In my project I will draw illustrations to a short story for children, therefore this research will help me to find information and answer to the big question: " What's make the great children book illustration? "  There is many factors what I need to consider before I will start drawing: - the age group.  - type an style of illustrations suitable for this age group - the book style - how many illustration I will include in my page. - what to avoid in the illustrations for children To decide in what style I will draw the pictures is also very important. Is that will be more cartoony or scary or is the pictures are relevant to the story. For example soft and gentle illustrations would not be perfect for a story about monsters. Go to the library an look at the real children's book is a good place to find the inspirations.  Is important to decide how many illustrations will be included in the book and what type of illustrations they are. project plan schedule

During the meeting with the Tutor ,we have discussed everything regarding to my project. I have introduced my ideas and my first sketches to the book. "The magic of the amulet" is a story written by my friend's daughter. There are three main characters - Abby the little girl who lives on the tropical Island with her friends: Olivia the dolphin and Patrick the crab. I already know how they will look like. I need to think how to draw the Island and mermaids. In my head it will be a magical and colorful,  fantasy World.  My first idea was to draw 4 pictures based on the story and to make front and back cover. The Tutor advice was to create two more pages as the story will be more interesting and easier to read for the children. We talk trough every page and I am convinced now that is good idea to draw two additional pages.
