Welcome back in term 3

 After a short two weeks break we came back ready for the new challenges in term 3. During the break I watched the “Glow up” show on Netflix. Basically it is a  make up artists competition where they   presents the best make up techniques and  skills. They are very talented, creative  and their make up looks stunning, it is a piece of art. Every single task was interesting and inspiring, for example they did make up for the actors in the “Lion King “ musical or they took part in preparation to the medical documentary series where they created real looking bruises , broken nose, scars ,veins open wand etc  They followed the script  and were able to be creative and go big using not only a colourful cosmetics but also play dough, clay, foil, string, prosthetics, etc. 



For example here this spiky elements in the make up were created piece by piece from the play dough then painted. 

I love how they transform models to someone completely different. To became make up artist, you need manual skills and knowledge about cosmetics, skin allergies, colour theory and you have to be creative. This is a completely new area for me but I am so tempted to have a go. 

Evelyn Affleck is another make up artist who is really inspiring me to go this path one day. Actually she lives and works in Vancouver, British Columbia.

 Evelyn Affleck is from an artistic family and she was always surrounded by art and culture. In 2015 Affleck graduates from the Blanche Macdonald from the Global Makeup Course and now she works there as a Makeup Artist. Her passion are Abstract Makeup Work and Fashion and she consequently uploading her creative make up experiments in Instagram, additionally collaborates with photographers in Vancouver.

Her make up is always precise and perfect, she is an perfectionist and loves paying attention to details which is fantastic. On Instagram she always says what was her inspiration to the make up , it can be a movie, book ore another artist and what cosmetics she used. Those information and tutorials are very useful for someone who just started the journey with art make up.

    Good first post, interesting images you used here. Could you make a link to Graphic Design work and consider how images like this might relate to a project you undertake this term?

Eco Academy Tote Bag mock up

 Finally I was bereave  enough to experiment with the Photoshop to create the tote bag for the school. I  started with the mock up picture which I found on the free mock up website, and I downloaded it on the laptop.  After transferring the picture to the Photoshop I used a clone tool to remove the design which was already there, however a few minutes after I have finished designing the bag I learned how to do it in completely different way. I knew I am doing something wrong as it took me to long .    I used the same free background logo which I created earlier in Procreate . I fit it to the tote bag size and I saved the picture in jpg, choosing "file" and " save as"  on the left top corner . I am happy with the results, the picture is sharp in a good quality.  In my project I will draw illustrations to a short story for children, therefore this research will help me to find information and answer to the big question: " What's make the great children book illustration? "  There is many factors what I need to consider before I will start drawing: - the age group.  - type an style of illustrations suitable for this age group - the book style - how many illustration I will include in my page. - what to avoid in the illustrations for children To decide in what style I will draw the pictures is also very important. Is that will be more cartoony or scary or is the pictures are relevant to the story. For example soft and gentle illustrations would not be perfect for a story about monsters. Go to the library an look at the real children's book is a good place to find the inspirations.  Is important to decide how many illustrations will be included in the book and what type of illustrations they are. During the meeting with the Tutor ,we have discussed everything regarding to my project. I have introduced my ideas and my first sketches to the book. "The magic of the amulet" is a story written by my friend's daughter. There are three main characters - Abby the little girl who lives on the tropical Island with her friends: Olivia the dolphin and Patrick the crab. I already know how they will look like. I need to think how to draw the Island and mermaids. In my head it will be a magical and colorful,  fantasy World.  My first idea was to draw 4 pictures based on the story and to make front and back cover. The Tutor advice was to create two more pages as the story will be more interesting and easier to read for the children. We talk trough every page and I am convinced now that is good idea to draw two additional pages.
