Who am I?

Image
who am I? Today I asked myself Who am I? The shadow behind my figure represents my twin brother. I like to be a twin, it is unusual and definitely something what represents me. My twin brother Piotr is 5min younger then me and I have always called him a "baby". I also have 5 years older sister, named Edyta. Both of them lives in Poland. Surprisingly I am much closer with my sister, than my twin brother. That is why I wrote word "Sister" in capital letters on my arm. Me an my brother are complete opposites. He has no clue about art and he doesn't like watching movies or reading books. He loves hunting and expensive cars, when I love every single animal and I do not really pain attention what car I am driving on. I graduated from the art school and he finished secondary school of economic. Word "twin" is written multiple times on my shadow but is also shaded, to show that he does exist in my life but is hidden in shade. Inside my body I draw a figure of ...

Further research - Eden Project

Image
My trip to the Eden Project last Summer is a big inspiration to the Earthly Delight theme and my major project. The diversity of plants and colours there is incredible! what is Eden Project?  Eden Project is based in Cornwall. It used to be a huge crater after a former clay mine. Everything was transformed into a beautiful global garden. There are five massive covered Biomes. The main one is the Rainforest Biome with over 1000 varieties of plants where temperature is between 18-35C and you need about two hours to see everything! The second biome is Mediterranean Biome with Mediterranean climate where temperature is between 9-25C and gardens inside the biomes. There is many unique plants and trees, we saw how cotton, chilli pepper or aloe grows which was very interesting.                  "Eve" living sculpture made from clay by Peter and Sue Hill, situated in Myth and Folklore Garden   Wobbly bridge trough the treetops in Rainforest...

project initial research

Image
In my main project I would create imaginary, secondary school and design the school logo, school uniforms and so on. The main theme for the school is to be an Eco School which linked to the Earthly Delight theme. I researched the Eco Schools in UK to find out about how are they promote themselves, how to became eco school and what colour palette they are using on their website or how their logo looks like. On this website  www.eco-schools.org.uk  I found the  information about the ten topics they are focusing on, such us: energy, global citizenship, biodiversity, healthy living and so on. There is also  7 steps to follow by schools that wanted to became eco and achieve the green flag for school. That gives me information what I could use in my project while creating posters and accessories.  I looked for artist that paint plants and flowers. Beautiful work of   Laura Garcia Serventi Argentinian painter and illustrator has caught my eye. I love her bot...

Development exercise

Image
I chose meditative approach to develop my idea. While meditating I saw fantasy world, majestic forest with colourful plants and flowers. I knew that the background supposed to be black, then I started drawing . Bright, orange tree was in the middle and I create the picture by drawing with different types of brushes. I wanted to avoid black outlines this time . My picture picture is surreal and when I am looking on this now, reminds me the movie " Avatar". I am balancing in between two themes: earthly delights and expressionism, an I still can not decide which one to choose. In my project I will simplify the picture and I will chose some of the plants or colour to create eco posters

Ideas generation: the Martians have landed!

Image
This is my way to explain the Martians what is my project. I draw my thoughts, Planet Earth surround by hearts to show them how I love and appreciate planet Earth. I draw little arrows to my drawings which symbolized that plants, animals and all Earthly Delights would be my inspiration. I could transfer my drawings and ideas on object that we - humans use every day such a shoes, t-shirt, fabric and so on

First thoughts

Image
 1. Which theme are you most drawn and why? Purple Haze. Use the color purple as your theme, consider what it represents and how it can be incorporated into your art or design project. Earthly Delights . Interpret this title as you please to represent, incorporate or express the nature of earthly delights in your art and design project. Expressionism . Look deeply into expressionism and incorporate this style into your art and design project. Earthly delights theme caught my eye first. I love nature and I would have many opportunities using this theme as there is wide range of elements which I could use. I could focus on beautiful wild animals or colorful  plants or mysterious sea life.  Second theme that cough my eye is Expressionism. My favorite expressionist artists are Vincent Van Gogh, Edward Munch, Henri Matisse and my last inspiration Egon Schiele. I love how powerful and colorful is expressionism. I would be able to use unlimited colors pallet and try abstrac...

icebreaker self-portrait

Image
In my self study time I went again trough the presentation that we watched during the first session in Art Portfolio. We talked about self portraits and the main task was to draw self portrait in 15min. I started drawing and my first idea was to draw self-portrait using only one black line, similar to the blind drawing that I did in the first term. However, I was not happy with the results and I decided to look for more inspirations. I looked at many famous artists and their self-portraits such as Salvador Dali "Soft self portrait with fried bacon" (1941); Caravaggio "Hidden self-portrait" were he uses his own head in the painting "David with the head of Goliath" and so on. One of  my favourite was the double self-portrait by Egon Schiele. I did the quick research looking for the inspiration. I love his drawing techniques , some of his portraits looks like an unfinished sketches. He often used a black outline and splash of colours.  Egon Schiele Girl with...

WELCOME BACK IN SPRING TERM

Image
Welcome back in the New Year and  the NEW TERM! Fresh start and the new beginning would gave me opportunity to learn something new and interesting. This term I am going to be more creative, confident about myself and my work . Last term in my major project I drew an illustrations to the story written by my friend's daughter "The magic of the amulet" That was my biggest dream and the feedback from my friends and family was amazing and positive. My biggest inspiration is polish illustrator Daniel Wlodarski. I was very proud and excited  about my very first book and I decided to write a short message to him on Instagram. He  was very happy about that and gave me some useful tips for the future, saying that "In this job the most important is enthusiasm for work, persistence, to be open to criticism, flow, self-motivation and everything contrasts with your own limitations (such as style) experience and mood" I appreciate his words and I will remember them forever.  D...
