ECO SCHOOL PROJECT to  create a design package for an Eco School including Logo/School Badge/School Brochure/Posters/Lanyards

In my project I will be creating a Design Package for an imaginary Eco secondary school. I will create the school logo inspired from the nature, digital pictures of the building and playground, accessories. The main school theme would be "to became eco." I would find the best place in Leicester for the school and I will create a map and street name. This project will take six weeks to complete. I will use digital software Photoshop and the Procreate to develop my ideas. I am going to check the secondary school websites to find out information about the school logos and the uniforms. I will research artist that are famous from painting plants, flowers and so on to get some inspirations regarding colours and font that I would use in my project.

During the meeting with the tutor we talked trough my project. I found the best place for my imaginary secondary school, that would be Aylestone Meadows. I choose this location because  there is many differed kinds of trees, river and a lot of green space. Perfect spot for the eco school. I will take many pictures there and in my project I will use my own photographs.
As I also need the venue to my project, I will contact the Primary School where I used to work and I will photograph the school building and the playground. I will combine those two photo together (green meadows and building) in Photoshop to create my imaginary school. I am thinking of putting the eco flag on the top of the building and eco posters on the walls. 
It is very important to remember to record all the steps during my project, to keep the emails, photographs, sketches and so on.  This is the sample of my first thoughts:



I tried to create the logo. I started with the three letters ECO and I wanted to fit them the square. The world SCHOOL is to long itself so I shorted it to three letters SQL. Apparently it is not so obvious as I though, My second thought for logo was the tree. Trees are strongly linked to Aylestone Meadows and Eco theme. I draw many trees but finally I used the colour blind drawing technique and it went quite well. I draw the three using one line only. I had an idea to draw human hands as a branches but it looked weird so I stayed with the first idea. I need to consider that the logo would be printed on the school uniforms and object in different scale so it shouldn't be to complicated.

 At the moment I am struggling with the colour scheme. I am not sure what would be better to use natural colours or bright colours as I draw on my first picture.

    Regarding your choice of colour scheme, add a follow up post including examples of other schools of this kind that you can use for reference, as well as colour scheme examples that you are considering. Remember, showing us every step of your project and what you have considered is important to the development of your work.

Eco Academy Tote Bag mock up

 Finally I was bereave  enough to experiment with the Photoshop to create the tote bag for the school. I  started with the mock up picture which I found on the free mock up website, and I downloaded it on the laptop.  After transferring the picture to the Photoshop I used a clone tool to remove the design which was already there, however a few minutes after I have finished designing the bag I learned how to do it in completely different way. I knew I am doing something wrong as it took me to long .    I used the same free background logo which I created earlier in Procreate . I fit it to the tote bag size and I saved the picture in jpg, choosing "file" and " save as"  on the left top corner . I am happy with the results, the picture is sharp in a good quality.  In my project I will draw illustrations to a short story for children, therefore this research will help me to find information and answer to the big question: " What's make the great children book illustration? "  There is many factors what I need to consider before I will start drawing: - the age group.  - type an style of illustrations suitable for this age group - the book style - how many illustration I will include in my page. - what to avoid in the illustrations for children To decide in what style I will draw the pictures is also very important. Is that will be more cartoony or scary or is the pictures are relevant to the story. For example soft and gentle illustrations would not be perfect for a story about monsters. During the meeting with the Tutor ,we have discussed everything regarding to my project. I have introduced my ideas and my first sketches to the book. "The magic of the amulet" is a story written by my friend's daughter. There are three main characters - Abby the little girl who lives on the tropical Island with her friends: Olivia the dolphin and Patrick the crab. I already know how they will look like. I need to think how to draw the Island and mermaids. In my head it will be a magical and colorful,  fantasy World.  My first idea was to draw 4 pictures based on the story and to make front and back cover. The Tutor advice was to create two more pages as the story will be more interesting and easier to read for the children.
