Eco Academy leaflet #2

Image
fig. 1 During the very first project tutorial in week 3 we talked about inspirations and Sam introduced me that website. After a few weeks I decided to go back to basics and re-design the Eco Academy leaflet as the last one with the photographs and heavy picture in the background was to busy, very chaotic. I feel tired after a few minutes looking at it. That picture (fig. 1 above) was my inspiration. This time I used light colour. Oto.255 is a very helpful tool which allowed me to play with different colours and shades. Once I knew what colour scheme I will use, I drew the school building in the middle of the page in a dark brown colour. In the next step I tried to arrange the space around the school by drawing circles and the rainbow, everything in similar colour palette. One of the tree shape I repeated from the tree which I draw on the logo, using continuous line only. I didn't drew another identical tree, I simply duplicated the layer and I resized it little bit. Second tree sh...

Eco Academy - open evening leaflet

Image
During the research I saw many information about the schools open evening and that was my inspiration to create the leaflet for the Eco Academy.  I used my pictures which I created before with the school building placed in the Aylestone Meadows. The school logo was placed on the white rectangle shape on the building. Later on I realised that, I used the wrong layer and the logo wasn't visible on the building.    I started with one picture , school address and logo, which later on develop in the totally different way. Finding the right background colour was challenging as nothing was good enough and kept trying and trying. Very helpful was the Oto255.com website were I was able to find every single colour and shades. I opened the website on the left side on my ipad to have easy access, to use colour that I like, I copied the colour number to procreate colour wheel. There are some examples what I have tried: I added one more picture of the Eco Academy with the swans an...

Eco Academy - school uniform

Image
This time I changed the font on the logo. I was looking for something smooth and not that sharp as it was before with Helvetica font.  I worked on Procreate and I found Chalkboard SE font which I think is better and the Bold font has the same thickness as the black lines on the logo itself. I knew that  I would need the logo without the background to place it on the uniforms, leaflets and so on. Unfortunately I didn't know how to do it yet. I watched a quick tutorial on You Tube and I learned how to create and then save the picture without the background. I used Pixabay for searching photographs. I saved few of them on the google drive and then uploaded them into Procreate where I was able to add the logo. Free background logo is uploaded from my google drive. Then with the magic wand tool I easily resized it and placed on the boy shirt. The blue shirt would be perfect for the Eco Academy and I prefer it more than heavy jumper .   I like how the logo looks on the s...

Infographic action plan created in Visme

Image
my.visme. After getting a very constructive feedback from my friends I created infographic with an action plan. That supposed to help me to organise myself before deadline.  I used Visme first time and I never heard of that before. I think that is amazing and easy to navigate tool which helps to create infographic . After precise introduction from tutor I created my own plan.  I used the ready one  infographic  template "how to pack for travel" and I have changed the colour theme and graphics and every element . I had a big base of font and icons to use. I enjoyed creating the action plan and I think it looks good. The colour theme I chose is in greens and browns , specially for the Earthly Delight theme which I chose for my major project. I also like the children graphic which I added few times, again, closely related to the Eco Academy

Re-designing the logo

Image
After receiving constructive feedback from my friends I decided to re-design the logo for the Eco Academy. As advised I removed the black frame around the logo which looks better in result. I experimented with the geometric shapes on the background as the previous version looked quite weird after I removed the frame.   I thought that would be nice to add some colours to the tree and I moved the green circle from the bottom to the top of the tree. I was able to easily change it because every element in the logo is on different layer in procreate. In roots I used light blue which symbolised water and I resized and moved the yellow circle to the right  I wasn’t happy how the yellow colour fits in the logo. I think it was little bit to big so I changed it again. This time behind the letter O The name of the school doesn’t fit right so I tried to move word “Academy” little bit higher and I’ve shrieked the tree trunk    That is simplified version of the logo which mi...

Critical feedback and improving work

Image
During my presentation I tried to clearly explain to my group what is my main project about and where my inspiration came from.  I presented my thinking process and how the logo design developed in the project. The feedback I received was generally positive and very constructive and gave me many ideas how I could change in the logo and maybe remove the black frame or think about different colours. We also talked about the uniform colours and how I would present the logo on them. They mentioned that I should consider the uniform colour and maybe try something more bright than beige , we all agreed that would be nice to  design it on the white shirt  After receiving the feedback from my friends I decided to re-work my logo again. This time I removed the  black frame around the logo and I have change the colours and the background. I will talk about this deeply in new post. Version before changes

Storyboard

Image
This idea for the storyboard came to me while waiting on the bus stop. Use of public transport and the rules to follow are different in each country. I noticed that, in England people wave for the bus to stop which was new for me when I first came to UK. Same as pressing the stop button to let the drive know that we want to leave at the next bus stop. I notice that, some people still having problem with that. There is many foreigners in Leicester, why do not introduce them a short and simple story of "How to ride the bus in UK"   I sketch simple story board to make a plan, I knew that I will use six boxes for my story and used procreate to draw a square and duplicate it five times. The pictures are simple without many details, I didn't use colours, except for tiny red dot to draw the stop button.
