major project - update

 Today I worked on secondary Eco Secondary School logo, I started with the tree design which I did previously. My idea was to make it more digital and I simplify the outlines first, where I considered future printing aspect. I thought maybe the tree roots are too obvious and I drew them to make the "Eco" word and I realized that letter C and O  creates the infinity symbol. I would be cleaver to leave it in the logo it would symbolise that the school will always follow the eco rules. 


 
I've changed the infinity symbol little bit as I wanted the letter "O" to be in a circle. That is my link to planet Earth. Unfortunately the letter "C" looks more like "G"  and I don't really like it. I am little bit confused now, should I draw a regular infinity symbol or try to make it more circular?

 
On the next picture I showed my thinking process from the very first logo trough the "Eco" word transformation in the logo. In step 5 I removed the tree brunches and placed the letters instead which gave me totally different design. I wasn't happy with the results I kept drawing.... and finally I started thinking of the colours, that would  help me with the logo design.

 

I had a precise colour in my mind and after a quick research I found the plain jumper on the John Lewis website. I used the magic wand tool to cut out the jumper from the screenshot and I was ready to place the logo .


The logo from my previous project was to simple and I started experiments with the colours and frame

 



 

 

In my imaginary school I would like to create 4 main houses named of four elements such as: Earth, Fire, Water and Air. The logo on the jumper would be almost identical for each house, however I would like to change only one element which is the colour at the bottom of the logo. Red for the Fire, blue for the Air, green for the Earth and finally turquoise for the Water. I tried to use white colour for Air and traditional blue for Water. That is  definitely something to think further


 

Is the next day now. Early morning and I went trough my sketches again and I am thinking to maybe leave the simple logo on the jumper, and only change the colour of the world ECO

    Good post, but would like to hear about your process, the software you are using, the tools you used to create this. Follow this up with the progress of this idea - also some hand drawn sketch ideas would also demonstrate that you are using a variety of materials and approaches to the work you are making. This project should be about exploring all of the options available to you.

Eco Academy Tote Bag mock up

 Finally I was bereave  enough to experiment with the Photoshop to create the tote bag for the school. I  started with the mock up picture which I found on the free mock up website, and I downloaded it on the laptop.  After transferring the picture to the Photoshop I used a clone tool to remove the design which was already there, however a few minutes after I have finished designing the bag I learned how to do it in completely different way. I knew I am doing something wrong as it took me to long .    I used the same free background logo which I created earlier in Procreate . I fit it to the tote bag size and I saved the picture in jpg, choosing "file" and " save as"  on the left top corner . I am happy with the results, the picture is sharp in a good quality.  In my project I will draw illustrations to a short story for children, therefore this research will help me to find information and answer to the big question: " What's make the great children book illustration? "  There is many factors what I need to consider before I will start drawing: - the age group.  - type an style of illustrations suitable for this age group - the book style - how many illustration I will include in my page. - what to avoid in the illustrations for children To decide in what style I will draw the pictures is also very important. Is that will be more cartoony or scary or is the pictures are relevant to the story. For example soft and gentle illustrations would not be perfect for a story about monsters. Go to the library an look at the real children's book is a good place to find the inspirations.  Is important to decide how many illustrations will be included in the book and what type of illustrations they are. project plan schedule

During the meeting with the Tutor ,we have discussed everything regarding to my project. I have introduced my ideas and my first sketches to the book. "The magic of the amulet" is a story written by my friend's daughter. There are three main characters - Abby the little girl who lives on the tropical Island with her friends: Olivia the dolphin and Patrick the crab. I already know how they will look like. I need to think how to draw the Island and mermaids. In my head it will be a magical and colorful,  fantasy World.  My first idea was to draw 4 pictures based on the story and to make front and back cover. The Tutor advice was to create two more pages as the story will be more interesting and easier to read for the children. We talk trough every page and I am convinced now that is good idea to draw two additional pages.
