collaborative piece #2

For the collaboration project I worked in one team with Bart. We are both from Poland so we agreed that would be nice to create something related to our culture. I did the research in Polish traditional clothing to look for the inspirations and I noticed that, people posing to the photo in characteristic way. That was our inspiration, we decided take the picture in the same pose and use it later in the collage

We went to the library to print out the photo in  A3 format, first, accidentally in black and white, which was even better so the most important part -clothing, would be colourful.  We also printed out the postage stamp template, colourful flower wreath and a hat. Why we printed out the postage stamp? Because Bart's progression route is product design, so the stamp is our idea for the product. The stamp could be use during the Cosmopolitan Festival in Leicester where local artists and artist from many countries deliver free arts workshops and an exhibiting their work.

This colourful, stripy dress was my inspiration, when Bartek's outfit was inspired by previous photo, where the man is wearing orange trousers with green stripes.

It was pleasure to work with Bart, we agreed with almost everything and we spend very creative afternoon with many ideas how to create the collage - stamp. For example to use window light for marking and tracing the stamp outlines.

Colourful paper was perfect for creating our costumes because colours are bright  and is easy to cut out shapes. So we glued gently, stipe by stripe, straight on our black and white photo.

When the picture was finished, Bartek has neatly cut out inside the stamp template which we use as a frame. The background is in white and red which represents colours of the Polish flag.

I took a picture of the collage and uploaded it to procreate. In procreate I wrote "1st "which stand for the first class postage and I drew the stamp. I found the stamp template on the internet, and I took a screenshot. That helped me to draw similar one on procreate, I used black charcoals pencil tool to create an irregular lines effect.

The final product for The Cosmopolitan Festival in Leicester.
