 I knew that I need a venue for my project, it wold be best to find the existing school building. I knew that, I cant go to any school and just start taking photos because of very strict restrictions,  so I decided to try in the school where I used to work. I couldn't took any photos in the morning when I dropped my son off to breakfast club as it was too dark , however ,on afternoon was always too busy, many parents ant children around. I spoke with the Head Teacher and she said that the girl, I was look after for, is  having really bad days recently as she missed me a lot and we decided that would be better if she wont see me. I understand that but I have no time to wait for her to be ready. I really wanted to have a picture of the building from the play ground side, so I asked my friend for the favour. That is what I have received:

 
I knew that I need to look for different ideas as I couldn't use this photo and the playground view.  I used google maps and I took a screen shots of the street view. 



The Eco Academy would be placed in Aylestone Meadows, I went there to take some pictures and I also found many photos on my phone. Some of them would be perfect for the project. I particularly focused on the large open space and the blue sky for the background. 




 

In the next step I removed the school icon what google map using to mark schools on their maps. To do this I have used Procreate and the "clone" tool, which let  me to remove blue icon from the photo.


Later on I removed background from the photo using "cutting" tool.

I started to experiments with the background. I thought that would be nice to place the Eco Academy by the river, with swans and duck swimming along. In the firs step I insert to the procreate, the background photo and on the next layer I have the photo without the background. 

 
With the "clone" tool I made the pavement on the front of the school, little bit longer ,to fit perfectly to the photo



I thought that would be nice to decorate the school fence with the flowers and plants. To do that I used basic brush and colours from the photo


I am not sure now if it was a good idea. With the "magic wand" tool I adjusted the colours on the photo to look more warmer

I also experiment with different background


I like the blue sky above the school. I think I will keep those two photos in the project.

    Despite your first photographs being not really what you wanted you have made some interesting mock up ideas here. Now follow up on what you are going to do with them and how you will realise your idea for this project.

 Finally I was bereave  enough to experiment with the Photoshop to create the tote bag for the school. I  started with the mock up picture which I found on the free mock up website, and I downloaded it on the laptop.  After transferring the picture to the Photoshop I used a clone tool to remove the design which was already there, however a few minutes after I have finished designing the bag I learned how to do it in completely different way. I knew I am doing something wrong as it took me to long .    I used the same free background logo which I created earlier in Procreate . I fit it to the tote bag size and I saved the picture in jpg, choosing "file" and " save as"  on the left top corner . I am happy with the results, the picture is sharp in a good quality.  In my project I will draw illustrations to a short story for children, therefore this research will help me to find information and answer to the big question: " What's make the great children book illustration? "  There is many factors what I need to consider before I will start drawing: - the age group.  - type an style of illustrations suitable for this age group - the book style - how many illustration I will include in my page. - what to avoid in the illustrations for children To decide in what style I will draw the pictures is also very important. Is that will be more cartoony or scary or is the pictures are relevant to the story. For example soft and gentle illustrations would not be perfect for a story about monsters. Go to the library an look at the real children's book is a good place to find the inspirations.  Is important to decide how many illustrations will be included in the book and what type of illustrations they are. project plan schedule

During the meeting with the Tutor ,we have discussed everything regarding to my project. I have introduced my ideas and my first sketches to the book. "The magic of the amulet" is a story written by my friend's daughter. There are three main characters - Abby the little girl who lives on the tropical Island with her friends: Olivia the dolphin and Patrick the crab. I already know how they will look like. I need to think how to draw the Island and mermaids. In my head it will be a magical and colorful,  fantasy World.  My first idea was to draw 4 pictures based on the story and to make front and back cover. The Tutor advice was to create two more pages as the story will be more interesting and easier to read for the children. We talk trough every page and I am convinced now that is good idea to draw two additional pages.
