What do I know about graphic design and Illustration?

What should I be doing in my subject area?
In my subject area I should WORK HARD practice drawing ,creating by using different rage of media. Using digital software such us: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Procreate. I should research famous artist and benefit their work and life as an inspiration. I should visit Museums and exhibitions and keep my eyes open for innovations and people's needs and interests.

What skills and knowledge do I need for my subject area?
The most important is drawing skill and ability be creative, to create or design regardless of the theme or topic. Moreover the knowledge of history of art and Artists is essential, same as creative thinking, solid knowledge of design software, such as Illustrator and InDesign, and photo-editing packages, such as Photoshop. Excellent teamworking skills to effectively collaborate with other creatives is also very important.

What jobs can I get by studying in this subject?
Dream jobs: graphic designer, creative director, production artist, art director, multimedia artist or animator,  product developer or I could work as a freelancer 

If I scored myself out of ten, with ten being the highest, how well do I think I know my own subject area?
I would say 5 as I am at the beginning of my journey and I will learn and experience much more during my study.

    The knowledge in your subject are should also be what is happening in your industry at the moment - the trends and major contemporary Graphic Designers, how Graphic Design in evolving.
    What kind of work does a Freelancer do? What kind companies, clients might you have?

 Finally I was bereave  enough to experiment with the Photoshop to create the tote bag for the school. I  started with the mock up picture which I found on the free mock up website, and I downloaded it on the laptop.  After transferring the picture to the Photoshop I used a clone tool to remove the design which was already there, however a few minutes after I have finished designing the bag I learned how to do it in completely different way. I knew I am doing something wrong as it took me to long .    I used the same free background logo which I created earlier in Procreate . I fit it to the tote bag size and I saved the picture in jpg, choosing "file" and " save as"  on the left top corner . I am happy with the results, the picture is sharp in a good quality.  In my project I will draw illustrations to a short story for children, therefore this research will help me to find information and answer to the big question: " What's make the great children book illustration? "  There is many factors what I need to consider before I will start drawing: - the age group.  - type an style of illustrations suitable for this age group - the book style - how many illustration I will include in my page. - what to avoid in the illustrations for children To decide in what style I will draw the pictures is also very important. Is that will be more cartoony or scary or is the pictures are relevant to the story. For example soft and gentle illustrations would not be perfect for a story about monsters. During the meeting with the Tutor ,we have discussed everything regarding to my project. I have introduced my ideas and my first sketches to the book. "The magic of the amulet" is a story written by my friend's daughter. There are three main characters - Abby the little girl who lives on the tropical Island with her friends: Olivia the dolphin and Patrick the crab. I already know how they will look like. I need to think how to draw the Island and mermaids. In my head it will be a magical and colorful,  fantasy World.  My first idea was to draw 4 pictures based on the story and to make front and back cover. The Tutor advice was to create two more pages as the story will be more interesting and easier to read for the children. We talk trough every page and I am convinced now that is good idea to draw two additional pages.
