Further research and the direction of my project
In this post I will answer some questions regarding my project and how far I am in designs and ideas.
1. How has my research, so far , informed project?
So far my research has informed my project really well. The primary research and interview with a tattoo artist let me understand her work better. I learned how difficult is that job and how hygienic the place should be. Such a big different from tattooing in dirty places back in 1980.
The Sailor Jerry research was very interesting and inspiring. I learned that people always decorated their bodies. And it was very symbolic. Symbol of the group or place that we belong or as a symbol of something important that happened in life.
2.How useful has my research been?
I found my research very useful so far. Sailor Jerry inspired me with his designs and black outline in his drawing. I would use that as my inspiration in designing patches.
Regarding to tattoos and research into tattoo machines I realised how important is using the right type of tattoo machine. The knowledge about the tattoo machine parts is essential in tattooing, because the tattoo artist disassembles machine to clean it properly after every single tattoo. Sometimes it takes long if you are not skilled enough.
3. What further research will I carry out next to build on previous research?
My further research will I carry out next will be about the history of tattoo. How people perceived tattoos in the past and how it is now. Also very interesting is the fact that tattoo style is often assigned to the place where you live.
4. How will the further research inform my work?
The knowledge and inspiration from my further research would let me to design better tattoos or inspiring me with a logo design.
I think you could direct your research towards your subject area as well as the research you have done so far, it is important to be aware of the style and trends that are significant in your industry at the moment so when you go to undergraduate you have a wider knowledge of your subject area.
